No. Certification exams are the same no matter where you take them. SAS has partnered with Pearson VUE to provide our customers with the greatest possible number of exam locations. You can take certification exams at SAS Education organization centers as well as at any of the 4,500 Pearson VUE centers worldwide.
Each SAS certification exam has its own set of preparation strategies. We refer to them as “Exam Structure & Syllabus” under “certification details” and you can find them on the Web pages associated with individual exams. The pages also show the number of questions in the exam, the duration of the exam, the areas you will be tested on, the required passing score, and recommended course work and content you can reference. You can also find a selection of sample questions that can help you to better understand the type of questions to expect in the exam.
The SAS Global Certification Program now issues versioned credentials that do not expire. For example, if you earn the SAS Certified Base Programmer for SAS 9 credential, you will retain this credential and it will not expire. Please note: Some exams may retire as new software is developed and/or enhanced.
Each exam challenges candidates to apply specific knowledge they have acquired through SAS software training and/or job experience. Computer-based in format, SAS Global certification exams are comprised of multiple-choice and/or short-answer questions, depending on the exam. Exams are generally scheduled through Pearson VUE but are also held at various locations throughout the globe on a prescheduled basis. Candidates are allotted varying time limits to complete the exam, depending on which exam is taken.
The SAS Certified Base Programmer for SAS 9 credential is a prerequisite to obtaining the SAS Certified Advanced Programmer for SAS 9 credential. If you do not hold a SAS Certified Base Programmer for SAS 9 credential prior to taking and passing the SAS Advanced Programming for SAS 9 exam, the SAS Certified Advanced Programmer for SAS 9 credential will not be awarded until the prerequisite has been met.
